Subscriptions - Talking to some parents at a recent kids birthday party (my kid was there, I wasn’t creeping out) I’m amazed how many subscriptions people have now, I ran a quick audit and we are still only paying for:

Seems like a tough job market out there at the moment - Following up on another post from a couple of weeks ago. I can’t believe how crazy the job market is now; it seems so hard to get a good position, and dealing with the rejection is slowly chipping ... See More away at me.

For context, in my current role/industry, I get offers and approaches from competitors all the time, at least once or twice a month. So I thought my skill set would be easily transferred (even if I am considering getting into a different industry but a similar role).

I’ve been actively applying for similar positions for a couple of months in different industries because I’m starting to feel pretty stale/tired within my current career (Sales Team Leader). I thought because I’m getting approached all the time by competitors, it shouldn’t be too hard to land a new role.

How I was wrong….. and what a rude shock. Constant rejection letters, businesses changing their mind about putting someone on, never hearing back from anyone, getting low-balled in the offers that have come through, and missing out on a few positions due to experience.

It seems tight, with businesses hesitant to put new people on. What are others’ experiences out there trying to switch roles as well? & does anybody have any tips to better my chances moving forward?

At the moment, I feel like I might be stuck within my current industry.

Feels like people need a reminder that rising interest rates affect more than mortgages - Seems like the impact of rising interest rates on on businesses is always lost in the snowball of complaints and articles about mortgages and house prices.

It's all well and good to focus on the raw ... See More cost of your mortgage repayments and whether or not you can afford them with rising rates, but people seem to be underestimating how much the cost of financing business operations for tons of companies is also impacted... meaning businesses become far less profitable and job losses are therefore on the cards.

The amount of ASX listed companies you can view the financial report cards for alone and how much debt they carry is pretty staggering, now multiply that for all the small businesses and unlisted companies out there and, yeah...

One of the good things is that this SHOULD mean all these shitco's with crappy, unprofitable business models should fail (usually techbro meme companies, but not those alone) and we should end up with a bit more of a "real" economy afterwards.

My house insurance just increased by 140% - Just looked at my upcoming premium and it's jumped from $948 to $2280...…Coles....never made a claim, not in a flood area.

Personal loans and Centrelink - I have a question regarding Australian lending laws and there relation to those on centrelink, mainly those on new start and youth allowance.

How can inflation be at less than 10%? - So since inflation started rising, things have gone up by about 10% according to CPI. It's all so cooked. Anyways, I have finally tapped in, and now I'm a slave to the mortgage for 30 years but at least it's my home. Not to mention the ~40k you have to pay upfront for stamp duty.
