Found out my coworker is on a much higher salary than me - I’m after advice on how I should go about negotiating my salary. I’ve been at my current company for 7 years now, and have been doing my current role for a year. I thought I got paid well, but I just found out my colleague (who started 4 months ago) is on a salary 15k higher than mine. We do the exact same job, but I’m considered more ‘senior’ than them because they’re not that great at their job and I have to hold their hand through a lot of work. I understand jumping between companies is often advised due to salary issues, but I do like my job so would prefer to stay.
As anyone would be, I’m really not happy knowing they are paid significantly more than me. Obviously I’m going to talk to my boss about it, but I would like some advice on what to say/what not to say. Discussing these things makes me a bit nervous, not going to lieAusfinance
