How can inflation be at less than 10%? - So since inflation started rising, things have gone up by about 10% according to CPI. But everything I've looked at seems to have gone up by a huge amount more. I could give plenty of examples if I looked through a catalogue, but ultimately if anything is only 10% more expensive than a couple of years ago I'm considering it cheap. My final nail-in-the-coffin? Looking for a bottle of spirits for a gift, and 1L bottles are typically $60-85$. Compared to a year or two ago where the more expensive ones could be had for $50. That's at least 20-50%. Where on earth is anything only 10% more expensive than 2 years ago? Ausfinance
