How did Queensland Pacific Metals achieve 5N purity in HPA?
Queensland Pacific Metals Announces Breakthrough in High Purity Alumina Production
Queensland Pacific Metals Ltd (QPM), in partnership with Lava Blue, has made significant progress in the production of high purity alumina (HPA), with marketing samples assayed at 5N (99.999%) purity. This achievement comes from a demonstration plant operation that remarkably featured only a single stage of purification and crystallisation.
The independent assays conducted by Eurofins EAG Laboratories in the United States herald a new phase for QPM, as it prepares to distribute these samples to potential offtakers, showcasing the viability and high quality of its HPA production ahead of commercial scale operations.
High Purity Alumina: A Market Game Changer: Exceptional Purity Achieved
QPM's recent assay results of 5N purity in its HPA samples represent a significant milestone in the industry. Such levels of purity not only demonstrate the effectiveness of QPM and Lava Blue's processing techniques but also position the company's HPA at

the forefront of the market, especially considering the increasing demand for high-grade materials in various high-tech applications.
The Path to Perfection
The journey to achieving 5N purity involved producing six ~10kg blends of HPA at the Lava Blue Demonstration Plant. These were then split and sent to Eurofins EAG Laboratories in the US for independent verification. Notably, Blend 4's two batches returned assays of 99.99916% and 99.9988% purity, with chloride levels at <1 ppm, underlining the success of the conversion process and the efficiency of chloride recovery.
Technical Innovations
The outstanding purity levels were reached with just a single stage of purification and crystallisation at the demonstration plant. This process underscores the potential of QPM's commercial plant design, which includes two stages of purification and crystallisation, promising even higher purity levels for HPA. This advancement is crucial for QPM's TECH Project, aiming to produce HPA that not only attracts a commercial premium but also establishes a robust production process.
Market Implications and Future Prospects: Ready for Distribution
With the independent assays completed, QPM is set to distribute its HPA samples to potential offtakers in the US. This step marks a critical phase in commercializing QPM's HPA production, as it allows potential customers to directly assess the quality and purity of the product, laying the groundwork for future contracts and collaborations.
A Bright Future Ahead
QPM's breakthrough in HPA purity is timely, given the growing demand for high-quality materials in sectors such as electronics, automotive, and renewable energy. The company's ability to produce HPA at 5N purity not only sets a new industry standard but also positions QPM as a key player in the global market.
With plans to implement a dual-stage purification and crystallisation process in its commercial operations, QPM is poised for success, promising to meet and exceed the industry's expectations for high purity alumina.
Queensland Pacific Metals Ltd's recent achievements in HPA production represent a significant step forward in the materials science field. By attaining 5N purity levels, QPM not only demonstrates its technical prowess but also its commitment to innovation and quality, setting the stage for a future where high purity alumina plays a critical role in advancing technology across various industries.

Intel could recover some ground eventually, but framing them as the savior of American chipmaking feels more like a political talking point than a practical reality.
