The Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) study, supported by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), outlines the feasibility of a 30,000 tonne per annum Hydrogen Direct Reduced Iron (H-DRI) demonstration plant. Remarkably, the study suggests that ZESTY can produce HBI from low-grade iron ore for approximately AUD$630-800 per tonne, a price range that rivals current carbon-intensive methods. However, ZESTY's most significant advantage lies in its potential to slash the carbon footprint of steel production from 1. 89 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of iron to near zero.
