Galan Lithium Limited (ASX:GLN) has commenced full Phase 1 pond construction for lithium production at its Hombre Muerto West (HMW) lithium brine project in Catamarca Province, Argentina. With a current JORC resource of 6. 6Mt LCE at 880mg/l Li, HMW is the highest-grade lithium brine deposit in Argentina. How will Galan go about producing lithium from this deposit?

Full Phase 1 Construction Commences

Galan Lithium Limited has made significant progress towards its goal of lithium production, with full Phase 1 pond construction now underway at the HMW project. The first fleet of earthmoving equipment is already on site, with additional equipment scheduled to arrive next week. Other construction activities, such as upgrading essential services, are also underway, paving the way for a successful and efficient construction period.

Delivering Favourable Evaporation Path to Production

The construction of the lith-ium evaporation ponds is a crucial component of the production process, providing the necessary surface area to facilitate the evaporation of water and the eventual concentration of lithium.

Galan Lithium aims to deliver the first evaporation ready pond by Q1 2024, which will commence a favourable evaporation path to production during the summer months.

Phase 1 Production Expected in H1 2025

Galan Lithium plans to produce a premium concentrate (6% Li) product targeting 5. 4ktpa of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) during H1 2025. With full Phase 1 construction now underway, the Company is well-placed to reach this target and emerge as a significant player in the lithium market.

Third-Party Off-Take and Strategic Discussions Ongoing

Galan Lithium is exploring several strategic options to maximise the potential of the HMW project, including third-party off-take, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships. The Company aims to leverage these opportunities to unlock the full value of the HMW deposit and establish itself as a key player in the lithium market.

Galan Lithium's Hombre Muerto West (HMW) lithium brine project is on track to commence lithium production by H1 2025. With full Phase 1 construction now underway, including the important evaporation ponds, the Company is making significant progress towards its goal. Galan Lithium's strategic discussions and exploration of third-party off-take opportunities underscore the Company's commitment to delivering long-term, sustainable growth and success in the lithium market.

There’s this idea floating around that throwing enough cash at Intel will suddenly turn them into the next TSMC. But semiconductor manufacturing isn’t something you can rush, it’s a complex, slow-moving process that takes years of precision and experience.

Intel could recover some ground eventually, but framing them as the savior of American chipmaking feels more like a political talking point than a practical reality.
