Western Mines Group Expands Exploration Efforts at Mulga Tank Project

Mineral exploration company Western Mines Group (WMG) progresses drilling and plans geophysical survey at Mulga Tank project in Western Australia

Western Mines Group Ltd (WMG), a mineral exploration company focused on the Mulga Tank project in Western Australia, is making significant strides in expanding its exploration efforts. With a focus on nickel-copper-cobalt-platinum-palladium-gold mineralization, WMG has completed drilling hole MTD026 and has planned a state-of-the-art geophysical survey to further advance their understanding of the project's potential.

Drilling Results Show Encouraging Sulphide Mineralization

WMG successfully completed drilling hole MTD026, targeting a deep electromagnetic (EM) conductor located at the southern end of the Mulga Tank project. The hole reached a depth of 1,002 meters and intersected multiple zones of sulphide mineralization. These sulphide zones, characterised by massive, semi-massive, and disseminated sulphides, are associated with mafic and ultramafic rocks. Such rock formations are known to be favourable hosts for nickel, copper, cobalt, platinum, palladium, and gold mineralization. Additionally, the hole encountered a significant sequence of sediments, potentially enhancing the project's exploration potential.

Laboratory Analysis and Geophysical Survey Planned

WMG has sent the drill core samples to the laboratory for analysis, with results expected to be received in August 2023. These analyses will provide valuable insights into the mineral content and potential economic viability of the Mulga Tank project. In addition to the drilling program, WMG has planned a MobileMT survey, a cutting-edge geophysical technique that can map subsurface conductivity and structure in three dimensions. This survey, set to commence in July 2023, will cover approximately 400 square kilometres, including areas where significant mineralization has been intersected in previous drilling campaigns. By refining existing EM targets and identifying new ones, the survey will aid in future drilling and enhance WMG's understanding of the project's prospectively.
