Who is Ken Brinsden and What is His New Role at Patriot Battery Metals Inc.?
Patriot Battery Metals Inc.: Strategic Leadership Shuffle to Accelerate Corvette Project
Vancouver, BC, Canada and Sydney, Australia witnessed significant changes in the boardroom and executive team of Patriot Battery Metals Inc. (TSX-V: PMET) (ASX: PMT) (OTCQB: PMETF) (FSE: R9GA) on January 24, 2024. These changes are aimed at strengthening the company’s presence in Quebec as it advances its Corvette Project, a key player in the North American and European lithium supply chains.
Executive Transition to Drive the Corvette Project
Ken Brinsden, a highly experienced mining executive, has been appointed CEO/President/Managing Director. Brinsden, transitioning from his previous role as Non-Executive Chair, will now be based in Montreal, Quebec, to directly oversee the project's development. His experience, particularly with Pilbara Minerals, is expected to be instrumental in propelling Patriot Battery Metals to new heights.

law, notably in the resources sector, steps into the role of Non-Executive Chair from Non-Executive Director. His extensive expertise, particularly in the mining and oil and gas sectors, will provide valuable guidance to the company.
Shifting Roles Within the Executive Team
The current CEO/President, Blair Way, will transition to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) role while retaining his position on the Executive Board. Way's shift to COO is seen as a strategic move to build out capacity in Quebec in support of the Corvette Project's development. His contributions to the company, including driving the discovery of America's largest Spodumene lithium deposit, have been pivotal.
Focus on the Corvette Project
The Corvette Project, located in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of Quebec, is at the heart of these leadership changes. The project, which is entirely owned by Patriot Battery Metals, hosts the CV5 Spodumene Pegmatite. With a maiden mineral resource estimate of 109.2 Mt at 1.42% Li2O inferred, the CV5 ranks as the largest lithium pegmatite resource in the Americas based on contained lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE).
Key Objectives Behind the Changes
Patriot’s reshuffle aims to increase senior leadership presence within Quebec, acknowledging the importance of local engagement and management capacity for the timely development of the Corvette Project. The company considers the presence of key leadership in Quebec as essential to advancing meaningful engagement with local stakeholders.
Grant of Plan Awards to Directors
In line with these changes, Patriot has granted an aggregate of 1,348,016 stock options and 20,085 Deferred Shares Units to certain directors. These Plan Awards are subject to approval by shareholders and governed by the terms of the Company’s Omnibus Equity Incentive Plan, emphasizing the company’s commitment to its leadership team.
Patriot Battery Metals Inc.’s strategic leadership changes signal a dedicated effort to bolster the company’s presence in Quebec and effectively advance the Corvette Project. With Ken Brinsden’s relocation to Quebec and the reshuffled executive team, Patriot is poised to make significant strides in the lithium industry, focusing on the development of a project that is crucial for the North American and European lithium supply chains.
