Investigating Talga's Aero Project and its Lithium Potential
Talga Group's Aero Project, formerly known as the Aitik East Project, is located in northern Sweden and is wholly owned by the company. The project is part of Talga's suite of battery metal assets held by its subsidiary, Talga Battery Metals AB. While Talga is primarily known for its lithium-ion battery graphite anode business through the Vittangi Anode Project, the discovery of lithium at the Aero Project has opened new possibilities.

The Journey of the Aero Project and Talga's Exploration Efforts
In 2017, Talga staked the Aero Project, initially focusing on its copper potential due to its proximity to the Aitik Cu-Au mine, which holds over 3 billion tonnes of copper and gold deposits. However, reports from the Swedish Geological Survey also indicated a minor occurrence of lithium in the area. Talga conducted copper-focused reconnaissance-level exploration, including an electromagnetic survey in 2021, as well as mapping and surface sampling. In 2022, additional site visits were carried out, driven by the growing significance of battery raw materials in Europe.
Unveiling the Promising Lithium-Bearing Pegmatites
During the exploration efforts at the Aero Project, Talga conducted geological mapping and identified a 14-kilometer-long corridor of flat-lying pegmatites. The largest pegmatite in the area has a surface exposure of 1,100 meters long and 450 meters wide. These lithium-bearing pegmatites hold immense potential and have captured the attention of Talga Group and the mining industry as a whole.
Further Evaluation and Future Steps
Recognizing the strategic importance of a large lithium source in Europe, Talga Group plans to recommence mapping and sampling activities in September. This phase will help define potential drill targets, facilitating further evaluation and development of the Aero Project. Talga's aim is to capitalize on the potential value of the lithium discovery for Europe's growing demand for battery raw materials.
